Abstract

Wood is a source of Indonesia's natural wealth which is using by both small and big industries. The furniture industry is one of the growing industrial sectors in Indonesia. Furniture industrial user, between producers and consumers, need to be equipped with knowledge about the types of wood as furniture materials. For producers, this information will be broaden the spectrum of alternative raw materials. Meanwhile, for consumers, the same information can provide confidence that a certain type using by producers indeed suitable as a furniture material. This research having a direction for create a Wood Type Information System for Web-Based Furniture Crafts in order to facilitate information, by changing the previously manual system into a computerized system. In this research too, the system development method use is the prototype method, which is starts from the step of listening to customers, building market improvements and testing customers controlling the market. This system uses PHP, HTML, and CSS as programming languages, with unit testing using black boxes. The information from this system includes the name of the wood, general characteristics, impact, physical and mechanical properties, durability, machining and workmanship, and maintenance of the wood.
