DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR SELECTION OF SUPERIOR CHILI SEEDS USING THE SIMPLE MULTI ATTRIBUTE RATING TECHNIQUE (SMART) METHOD

Capsicum annuum L. or chili is a strategic commodity for the Ministry of Agriculture because it is needed by the community and has many benefits. Chili is one of the plants that is often used as a complementary ingredient for cooking spices in Indonesian society, as a result chili is a very promising business for farmers. Many farmers make chili as the main commodity in agriculture so that the selection of chili seeds used must be paid more attention so that the chili harvest is as expected. This study focuses on the implementation of SMART for decision support policies to determine superior chili seeds at the Tidore City Farmers Shop. It takes criteria such as altitude, pest and disease resistance, durability, fast harvest, and price. Where the concept of chili seed selection problems is still carried out by traditional and manual methods, causing chili production to decrease and less than optimal. So the purpose of this study is to create a decision support system to determine chili seeds with the SMART method using the PHP and MySQL programming languages with criteria and weights determined by the buyer. The system built is web-based, in this research it was done through a literature review and direct interviews at Toko Tani. In this study using the waterfall model method for system development and using the simple multi attribute rating technique (SMART) method. The results of this study are a web-based application of a decision support system for selecting superior chili seeds at the Tidore City Farmer's Shop that can provide recommendations to farmers which chili seeds are more suitable for planting based on the specified criteria.
