Publication Ethics
JBATIK (Journal of Community Service in Information and Communication Technology) upholds the highest standards of publication ethics at every stage of the manuscript publication process.
This statement is adapted from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and aims to ensure scientific integrity, academic honesty, and transparency throughout the publication process.
1. Authors

Authors must uphold scientific conduct and understand both the benefits and potential risks of their published work.

Authors must present the results of their community service activities involving information and communication technology honestly, without fabrication, falsification, or data manipulation.

Submitted manuscripts must follow the writing guidelines of JBATIK (Journal of Community Service in Information and Communication Technology) as stated in the journal template.

Submitted articles must be relevant to the focus and scope of JBATIK, namely community service activities applying ICT in various sectors of life.

Authors must ensure that the submitted work does not create any conflict of interest with any other party.

All listed authors must have appropriate competence and have made a significant contribution to the community service activities and manuscript preparation.

If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their submitted or published manuscript, the author must promptly notify the editor to correct or retract the paper.

Authors are prohibited from multiple or concurrent submissions of the same manuscript to more than one journal. Resubmission is only permitted after an official rejection decision has been received from JBATIK.
2. Editors

Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published based on recommendations from reviewers.

Editors may consult with the editorial board when making the final publication decision.

Editors must ensure that each submitted manuscript is original, relevant, and aligned with the journal’s focus and scope.

Editors assign reviewers who are competent and appropriate to the subject matter of the manuscript.

Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all information related to submitted manuscripts.

Editors must act objectively, fairly, and impartially in evaluating manuscripts.

Editors must reject any form of interference that may compromise the integrity of the editorial process, including personal or institutional conflicts of interest.
3. Reviewers

Reviewers assist editors in assessing the scientific quality and relevance of the manuscripts for publication.

Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not use the information contained within them for personal gain.

Reviewers must ensure that all sources of data and references used in the manuscript have been properly acknowledged by the authors.

Reviewers should identify any relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors.

Reviews must be conducted objectively and logically, and reviewers should clearly express their views with supporting arguments.

Reviewers should provide constructive comments to help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.

Reviewers must complete the review process within the designated timeframe and notify the editor if unable to meet the deadline.

Reviewers must avoid any form of conflict of interest with the authors or the content of the manuscripts under review.
4. Publisher

The JBATIK publisher is responsible for ensuring that the entire publication process is conducted ethically, professionally, and transparently.

The publisher guarantees that editorial decisions are made independently, free from external pressure or influence.

The publisher collaborates with the editorial board to address any allegations of publication ethics violations, including plagiarism or data falsification.

The publisher is obligated to publish corrections, clarifications, or retractions when significant errors are identified in a published article.

The publisher is committed to supporting the open and ethical dissemination of knowledge and community service outcomes related to ICT.
