Abstract

This study aims to determine the total flavonoid content in Jatropha curcas (L.) leaf extract. Fresh leaf samples were taken from Akeboca Village, Ternate, and extracted using ethanol. From 100 grams of samples extracted with 1000 mL of solvent, 18.41 grams of extract was obtained, resulting in a yield of 18.41%. Flavonoid content test was conducted using spectrophotometry with quercetin as the standard. The analysis showed that in 250 mg of extract, there was a flavonoid content of 13.459 mg QE/g, which is equivalent to 5.3836%. The conclusion of this study is that Jatropha leaf extract has a significant flavonoid content, showing potential as a source of antioxidant compounds useful for pharmaceutical and health applications. These results support the utilization of Jatropha leaves in the development of natural products with antioxidant activity.
