IMPLEMENTATION OF BINARY SEARCH ALGORITHM IN WEBSITE-BASED GALELA LANGUAGE DICTIONARY APPLICATION

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest archipelagic countries with the sixth largest number of islands in the world. Indonesia as one of the countries that has the most and largest treasures of regional languages in the world. In North Maluku Province, there are 19 regional languages used by the community, one of which is Galela. Galela language is spoken by most of the people of North Halmahera, which stretches from Wari village to Jere village. However, the development of Galela language is now starting to decline, due to the lack of use of Galela language in everyday life, especially among easy children, And the very minimal role of parents in passing on the use of Galela language to the next generation. Therefore, a problem was raised, how to implement the binary search algorithm in a website-based Galela dictionary application. The purpose of this study was to find out how to implement the binary search method in a website-based Galela dictionary application. The word data used in the study amounted to 832 vocabulary. Based on the results of research that has been tested using black box testing, the implementation of the binary search algorithm into the website-based Galela dictionary application is going well in doing word searches. The application of binary search algorithms in website-based Galela language dictionaries is an effective method because this method can perform word searches quickly and efficiently.
